The product
Gula semut kelapa, granulated coconut sugar.
Coconut sugar is made from the sap of coconut blossoms (Cocos nucifera). Farmers tap the flower bud twice a day; the sap is filtered and cooked down, then dried, granulated and sieved. Every batch passes a magnet and a metal detector before packing. Nothing is added.
It has a mild caramel flavor, pours like raw sugar and replaces cane sugar one-to-one by weight in granola, bars, chocolate, baking, sauces and drinks.
Need a deeper caramel note? Our arenga palm sugar is made the same way from the sugar palm. Organic arenga is available on request from a USDA Organic certified producer.
